Create Attendance / Production Type in Tally Payroll

Attendance / Production Type represents the basic units that is used to compute Employee's pay and to track and represent data on productivity. Attendance / Production types are dependent on pay heads that constitute employee's pay structure, and so you may need to define multiple types. 

You can also define Attendance / Production Type in hierarchical group to ensure that attendance types having a common unit are combined under logical groups. For Example, The Group Present Days can have present and Leave with pay as sub-groups.

Creating Attendance Payroll


You can define attendance / production types with or without pay.
  • Attendance leave with pay: Use this to record the positive attendance and leave with pay (For Example, Present, Sick Leave, and so on).
  • Leave without pay: Use this to record negative attendance (For Example, Absent, Leave without pay)
To record positive attendance type create a attendance named Present

1. Go to gateway of Tally - Payroll Info - Attendance/ Production Type - Create
2. Enter the name of the attendance type as Present
3. Select Primary from the list for the field under.
4. Select the Attendance Type as Attendance / Leave with pay. The Period type appears automatically.


5. Press Enter to Save.
Note: The same can be also create for Absent under Attendance type Leave without pay. 

Create a Production Type

1. Go to gateway of Tally - Payroll Info - Attendance/ Production Type - Create
2. Enter the name of the attendance type as Overtime
3. Select Primary from the list for the field under.
4. Select the Attendance Type as Production. Select the appropriate type of unit under the field of period type.

5.  Press Enter to Save

You can create also other production types as per your business requirements.

Creating User Define Calender Types

You can also use the User Define Calender Type to computer the per day salary based on the variable days for each month based on pay heads such as basic pay.

1. Go to Gateway of Tally - Payroll Info - Attendance Type - Create
2. Specify the field name for Attendance type "My Calender"
3. Select Primary in the Under Field.
4. Select User Defined Calender type in the field Attendance Type


5. Press Enter to Save.
